Mark and David’s Atlantic to the Med bike trek 2017

Dear family and friends,
On Monday the 31st of July we will be undertaking the exciting adventure (some say mad!) of riding our mountain bikes fully loaded with camping gear, pots and pans, clothes, snake repellent etc, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean sea. Our starting point will be the little sea side village of Lacanau Ocean near Bordeaux. We will then follow with a few deviations,(some deliberate some not) the Garonne Canal to Toulouse and then continue down the Canal du Midi to the sea port of Sete, a distance of approximately 600 kilometers! The trip should take us 6 to 7 days so hopefully we should make it back alive and well by Monday the 7th of August.
You can follow our travels via Mark's Facebook page which will be updated every day with photos, videos and posts.
A couple of weeks ago Mark and Michele lost their dear dog, Lady. She lived to a good old age of 15 but had been suffering for some time. It made us think, many dogs are not as fortunate to live such a wonderful life as Lady and so we would like to dedicate this bike trek adventure to her, and hopefully raise some money for our local dog refuge.
All our travel expenses will be covered by ourselves but if you could pledge some cash for the refuge, however small the sum please send Mark an email, a whatsapp, Facebook or text message the amount you would like to pledge. He will of course be in touch with you after the trek.

Many thanks,
Mark and David
