Aeration of the greens

The greenkeeper at the Sainte Maxime course posted on Facebook some great photos of the aeration that his team did this week. Aeration  is  critical to course maintenance as it helps to mitigate against the potential impact of soil compaction, smearing / sealing of playing surfaces, thatch accumulation,  root growth, flooding in times of heavy rain and forced course closures.
So next time the aeration holes appear please remember the greenkeepers are undertaking these aeration programmes to help create the best possible playing surfaces for members and visiting golfers whenever possible.
